About

Dr. Abbey Levenshus serves as Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of Strategic Communication. She teaches undergraduate courses in basic and advanced strategic communication, including writing, digital and social media marketing, and case studies in communication. 

Dr. Levenshus’ research on government public relations, risk and crisis communication, and social media management has been published in books and top communication journals like Journal of Applied Communication Research and the Journal of Public Relations Research

Her professional experience includes serving as communication director for a U.S. Congressman, a political technology company, and a government consulting firm in Washington, D.C. She earned her M.A. in Public Communication at American University and her Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Maryland. Prior to Butler, she was an assistant professor of communication at the University of Tennessee.

In 2016, Dr. Levenshus was thrilled to return to her home state of Indiana in order to join Butler’s faculty.
