    Abstract

AFTER THE MERIDIAN: TIMES OF FUTURE PAST (1990) - is a 35:00 multi-movement piece commissioned for the 150th anniversary of the Greenwich (CT) Choral Society, and premiered in December 1990 by the Greenwich Choral Society, three NYC soloists (soprano, tenor and baritone) and the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra, all under the direction of the late, great Richard Vogt. Movement 5: the classic New England feud - the eternal argument of who is better, stronger, smarter - the folks from Connecticut vs. folks from Massachusetts. Text for this movement: a setting of excerpts from a Ralph Waldo Emerson memoir.
