Abstract
The article presents an essay that talks about the limitation of cosmopolitanism when applied to black women. Two South Asian books depicting the difficulties experience by women of finding a space of belonging are offered. These books include "Sita Haran," by Qurratulain Hyder and "The Shadow Lines," by Amitav Ghosh. The author said that the books illustrate the ways why nationalist and communitarian discourse exempt women from the cosmopolitan ideal. Both books show the obstacle experienced by the women as they search a safety place for their own.
